ArkBackup is a professional tool that helps
to protect your important data from irreparable loss or damage. It can help
to create backup for your disk files, Windows Registry keys, remote
files(FTP) and web files(HTTP) by
schedule, and of course, you can do it at any time too. All these operations
are performed in the background. And ArkBackup uses the unique
"project/task" based concept to organize your backup jobs, which makes
ArkBackup much easier-to-use and easier-to-learn.
ArkBackup supports to create three types of backup archive:
- ArkBackup archive file (.abkf file)
- ZIP package (Zip64 is supported)
- Original file
ArkBackup archive file (.abkf file) is the file format powered by
ArkBackup Software Inc., and is generated by ArkBackup
Backup Engine, which can maximize the effect of ArkBackup
features. It supports incremental backup, data compressing and encrypting,
archive splitting
etc. And the most prominent is, it is much faster than most of other primary backup
or file compressing tools. When restoring, you can view the .abkf
archive file
in an well organized and intuitionistic viewer for your backed up data. All
of your data are organized by "timing catalog" and "disk trees" so that you
can find anything very easily. You can restore the full archive(all
up-to-date data), or just restore a specified catalog, tree, or just
some files.
ArkBackup also can create ZIP package file for your data (files
and Windows Registry keys) if you need.
For the "original file" type of backup, ArkBackup just copies the
specified files and folders to another disk folder. All files keep the
original form(.reg file for Windows Registry keys backup). In general, this
is useful when you need to make a files synchronization.
ArkBackup supports Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista, and
requires approximately 6MB of free disk space.
Key features of ArkBackup:
- Fast - The ArkBackup Backup Engine uses the inimitable algorithm
developed by ourselves to create backup archive (.abkf). Under the same
conditions, e.g. compress data or not, encrypt or not, ArkBackup
always much faster than most of other primary backup or file compressing
tools.
- Multiple backup sources - ArkBackup Backup Engine supports to backup
disk files, Windows Registry keys, remote files(FTP), web files(HTTP) and Windows environment (e.g. Desktop
icons positions, etc) inherently. And ArkBackup also supports
plug-ins. You can download plug-ins for your backup job, e.g. plug-in
for backing up Outlook Express, Microsoft Outlook, etc.
- Advanced project-based operation - All backup jobs are
organized by projects and tasks. A project is an operation unit.
E.g. you can create a task which for backing up the data files and
create another task to backup some related keys in Windows Registry.
Organize these two tasks in one project, since they are integrative.
- Flexible backup types - ArkBackup supports incremental backup
(only for .abkf archive) and fully backup. Fully backup creates a full
copy of your up-to-date data every time. Whereas the incremental backup
backs up the whole sources at the first time, and then only backs up the
changed files since last backup. This can decrease the amount of
backup time obviously.
- Multiple backup archive types - Besides the official archive
type - ArkBackup backup archive (.abkf file), ArkBackup can also
create ZIP package archive and original files/folders to meet your
multiple requirements.
- Reliable security - ArkBackup allows to set a password
for your backed up data, then ArkBackup encrypts your data with a highly
strong encrypt arithmetic so that anyone else who doesn't have a correct
password can't open/restore and read your data.
- Flexible and powerful scheduler - You can specify a flexible
schedule for running a project by schedule. E.g. once, daily,
weekly, monthly and yearly.
- Flexible and powerful actions - You can specify multiple
types of actions before and/or after backing up. E.g. run a program,
copy/move/remove files, ftp upload files and burning CD/DVDs.
- Flexible restore options - For ArkBackup archive file (.abkf
file), all of your data are organized by "timing catalog" and "disk
trees". You can restore the full archive(the uptodate of your backed up
files), or just restore a specified catalog, tree, or just one file.
- Supports Volume Shadow Copy - This feature allows you to back
up open files (local) from NTFS partitions in Windows (x86).
- Supports Unicode - The files with any type of characters
(such as Japanese, Chinese, Korean or middle east) in its name can be
backed up and restored without any problems.
- Supports archive splitting - ArkBackup supports to
split the backup archive to multiple specs. E.g. 640MB(CD), 4.3GB(DVD),
etc. This can help to burn a large archive to multiple medias such as
CD, DVD discs.
