Click on the menu "Tools" - "Options" to call out
the options setting dialogue box.
General

- Launch ArkBackup on Windows
startup - Specifies whether launches ArkBackup on Windows
startup
- Minimize to the system tray when
launched with Windows
startup - Specifies whether minimizes ArkBackup to the system tray
when it runs with Window startup. If this option is checked,
ArkBackup will not show main window when starts with Windows, just
show an icon in the system tray.

- Minimize
to the system tray when click on the 'X' button on the title bar - Specifies
whether minimizes ArkBackup to the system tray when you close it by click on
the close button of window.
- Show in task bar when minimized to the system tray - Specifies whether shows
ArkBackup in Windows task bar when it is minimized to the system
tray.
- Run overdue tasks automatically when starts - Specifies whether run
all overdue(by schedule) backup tasks when ArkBackup starts.
If this option is checked, then all overdue tasks will run when ArkBackup starts, otherwise
ArkBackup will only show a reminder
for them to you, except the below option is checked.
- Don't show reminder for overdue tasks when starts (ignore them) - If
this option is checked, ArkBackup will not check any overdue
tasks when starts.
- Maximum size for log file - When log file (arkbackup.logf) exceeds the
specified size, ArkBackup will remove the earlier part of logs to
decrease the size of the file. The default value is 1 MB. If you don't want
to limit it, just specify 0 MB for this option.
Backup

- Default destination folder for backup - Specifies the default folder for a
backup task.
- If the destination of a task already exists (for Fully Backup only) - This
option is used for the tasks which backup type
is "Fully Backup" only (obviously, it's not a problem for "Incremental
Backup" tasks). If the first item of this option is checked, ArkBackup
will ask you how to process this situation. If the second item is checked,
ArkBackup will rename the existing destination file to keep it for
your processing later. If the third item is checked, ArkBackup will
remove the existing destination file automatically and then to create a new
one for newly backing up. Please note, the removed file can't be recovered.
So please take care to select this option.
- If a file is locked or unreadable when backing up (for .abkf archive only) -
This option is used for the tasks which backup method is "Backup to .abkf file" only. If the first item of this
option is checked, ArkBackup will prompt you to close the related
program which may locked this file then retry. If the second item of this
option is checked, ArkBackup will try to use the Volume Shadow Copy
Service of Windows to get a snapshot of the locked file. And if the
third item of this option is checked, ArkBackup will not pause the backup progress and
just add the filename to the "failed list" of the backup report then you can
check it in the report. For the tasks which backup method is "Compress to
.ZIP package" or "Copy to destination", they apply the second choice.
* "Use Volume Shadow Copy Service to get a
snapshot of this file" item is only available in ArkBackup Professional
edition.
- Split the destination file when its size exceeds - Specifies the maximum
size for the destination backup archive file. In general, this is useful
when you need to burn the backup archive file into some medias such as CD,
DVD discs if the backup archive file is large. ArkBackup provides
multiple specs for it, e.g. 640MB for general CDs, 4.3GB for DVDs, etc. You
also can specify "Never" for this option if you don't want to split the
destination file. Please note, ArkBackup will never split an existing
archive file. So please set this option before creating a backup if you
need.
Restore

- If the destination file exists when restoring - If the files to restore
already exist on the destination, you can specify ArkBackup to
overwrite them automatically, or just skip over, or ask you how to process
this situation at that time.
- What do you want ArkBackup to do when restoring the Windows Registray
item in backup archive to new location - This option is used for the
situation as: When you try to restore a backup archive which contains backed
up Windows Registry keys in it, and you specified to restore this backup
archive to "New location". If the first item of this option is checked,
ArkBackup will still restore the backed up registry keys to Windows
Registry even if you specified to restore the backup archive to "New
location". If the second item of this option is checked, ArkBackup
will also save the keys to .reg files in the destination folder.
